The very talented team and our good friends at Outhouse Design were tasked with creating a unique outdoor space that would encourage guests to venture out of their accommodation to use the hotel’s services and spaces.

LIGHTING THE CENTRAL COURTYARD

All projects come with their own unique set of challenges and this project was no different. The courtyard was located centrally within the hotel on the second floor, meaning each element was designed and constructed as modules and then assembled like a jigsaw puzzle onsite.

Working with PO Box Design, to incorporate our Linear lighting into the base of the sculptural trees with a custom diffusor to highlight and enhance the orange feature architectural rings. The organic pod seating area used our Accent 8 light fittings, strategically placed so that the patterns of the roof structure were reflected within the seating area. Being constructed off-site, we specified Linear lighting for under the seats for its ease of installation and the flexibility.

ILLUMINATING THE PLANTER BEDS

Working with Urban Garden Enrichment for the planter beds, we pre-run cable to ensure a seamless installation. A combination of Path Light Linear and Accent 5 lights were used to balance and cast light onto the lower growing planters with dramatic shadows cast for a spectacular effect.

This was a fantastic project to be involved with and a pleasure to collaborate with designers, artists and contractors to produce a space that can be enjoyed by guests and staff during the day and night for years to come.
