In this inspiring rural landscape created by Semken Landscaping, we explore a stunning family property, rich in history and connection to the land, that has been lovingly cared for across generations.

Still a working farm, the land balances functionality and beauty, with its expansive grounds now thoughtfully enhanced by a tailored lighting design that brings the landscaped garden and surrounding spaces to life after dark. 

Given the scale of the property, the lighting was carefully planned to suit each unique area, including the path lighting to the barns and outbuildings.  From the moment you arrive, the garden makes a statement.

The tree-lined driveway is  illuminated to create a striking “avenue effect” that warmly welcomes visitors. Accent lighting is installed on opposing sides of each tree, ensuring the view is equally impressive on arrival and departure.

The landscape is home to a variety of large, established trees, some over a century old. Lighting these botanical giants was both a rare and rewarding opportunity. Using Accent 11 lights positioned from multiple angles, the design ensured the trees could be appreciated from every perspective, whether viewed from the alfresco area or while strolling through the garden.

An established pear tree, centered at the properties entrance, is illuminated at night, providing a focal point toward the residence. 

Given the unique landmarks of this property, we worked alongside Semken Landscaping to provide a functional lighting solution. Timber posts were installed along the meandering pathways, each fitted with our Step Light Round 100. This innovative approach created a robust solution for ongoing property maintenance, while also serving as a striking design element that complements the natural character of the property.

The mounted Step Lights were positioned along the pathways to guide guests through the landscape. The spacing of these lights was carefully considered to ensure a seamless overlap of light without being overpowering. A consistent colour temperature of the lights throughout the garden creates a warm and inviting ambience for all to enjoy.

Step Light Linear Recessed 120 fittings were installed along the low verandah of an outbuilding to safely guide visitors across the uneven surface and the change in levels.

By working with the team at Semken Landscaping we were able to illuminate key features and compliment the work of the landscaping team. The lighting design was to enhance, not overpower, the landscape. The result is a garden that transforms seamlessly from day to night— one that invites, engages, and endures.
